Vyara Yordanova , Culturae Mundi Intern-Human Resources

Vyara Yordanova

Hi, my name is Vyara and I am a second year International Law student. I am going to be the Human Resources Officer at Culturae Mundi for 2016/2017. I cannot wait to participate in Culturae Mundi’s team events and effectively contribute for their success and expansion.
I have been always keen to learn about different cultures. I did not have much opportunities to explore cultural diversity until I came to the UK and particularly Coventry which seems to be an ideal place to find out about people from different backgrounds and ethnicities.
During my first year at University I became a Course Representative and met a lot of students from different backgrounds. Furthermore, my work as a Vice-President of the Law Society gave me the opportunity to expand my global knowledge and to contribute for the development of one of the most diverse societies on campus.
After completing my second year at university I decided to undertake a placement year in order to expand my professional experience. Culturae Mundi turned out to be the perfect choice for me. I have become so passionate and enthusiastic about Culturae Mundi’s work because of the diversity of people you can meet and make friends with, the fact that you can expand your global knowledge and awareness and organise many cultural events and workshops. As a Human Resources Officer one of my responsibilities is to coordinate volunteers from a variety of countries and thus I will learn about their way of thinking, living and working which will improve my knowledge about cultures and will develop my creativity side. The placement will develop my team working skills as well as teach me how to work on my own initiative, will broaden my experience and prepare me to progress to a successful career. I believe this great opportunity will not only develop my professional skills but also contribute to my personality development.
I am very excited and look forward to experience what surprises this year has prepared for me.
Join us to experience the exciting multicultural world.

Veronica Bernadette , Culturae Mundi Intern-Editor

Veronica Bernadette

I’m the editor and a freelance journalist here at Culturae Mundi.
Writing short stories is my forte though I don’t use it as often as I should. Out of the few times I wrote, I won 2 national short story competitions and won a bronze medal in the 2012 Commonwealth Essay Competition. My essay was coincidentally a piece on the Mooncake Festival. My short story blog was what landed me my roles here as well. I would like to use these experiences to branch out my skills and use it to magnify the beauty and importance of diversity, respect and traditions.

My other responsibilities include being the President of the Coventry Humanities Society, a volunteer Refugee caseworker at the British Red Cross, an amateur humanitarian and a frantic 3rd Year undergraduate completing her BA Politics degree.

As well as the cultural aspect side of things, this internship will allow me to gain experience in HR and how to work well within a team. Even though politics is my main professional activity, my secondary passion is writing and inherently journalism. My goal for this role is to convince the reader of the colors, sounds and feelings I experience to confirm the authenticity and plenitude of anything that comes across as a potential interest sparker. The point of all this is to satisfy curiosity and build informed and coherent opinions.

Sara Mageit - Editor

Sara

Hello, Culturae Mundi truly embraces what I see as beautiful in life, multiculturalism and diversity amongst the human race. Being of dual heritage myself, with an Italian mother and Sudanese father, I have been brought up with an eager hunger to learn and encompass the way people celebrate their traditions. These are extraordinary ways in which values have been deeply imbedded within people’s cultural roots and carried on for generations. This is what CM is about, bringing to life what people link to their mother land and sharing this with everyone else. Travelling has made me aware of the struggles and triumphs that nationalities face when living as expatriates. This has allowed me to understand that it is crucial to disregard prejudice and really make the most of each other’s differences. The variety of talent here makes me proud to be an editor for this stupendous organisation.
